A Legacy of Excellence in Legal Service
Zax Law was founded in 1992 by partners James Zax and Margaret Harrison, two attorneys who shared a vision of creating a law firm that combined exceptional legal expertise with genuine compassion for clients. Starting as a small practice in a modest office on Main Street in Little River, the firm quickly gained a reputation for thorough preparation, strategic thinking, and unwavering dedication to client success.
The early years were challenging but rewarding. James and Margaret handled every type of case that walked through their doors, from simple wills and traffic violations to complex personal injury lawsuits and family law matters. Their hands-on approach and commitment to treating every client like family earned them a loyal following throughout the Grand Strand community. Word of mouth spread, and the firm began to grow steadily.
By 1998, Zax Law had outgrown its original space and moved to its current location on Fake Street. The firm expanded its practice areas, adding specialists in estate planning, real estate, and business law. The attorneys hired additional staff to handle the growing caseload, always maintaining the firm's founding values of integrity, excellence, and client-centered service. This period of growth established Zax Law as a full-service law firm capable of handling virtually any legal need.
The new millennium brought both challenges and opportunities. The firm navigated economic downturns, changes in laws and regulations, and evolving client needs while continuing to grow and adapt. Zax Law embraced technology, implemented modern case management systems, and expanded its marketing efforts to reach more clients throughout South Carolina. Despite the growth, the firm remained true to its core principles and the personal touch that had made it successful from the beginning.
Today, Zax Law is one of the most respected law firms in the region, with 26 attorneys and 39 paralegals serving clients across 13 practice areas. The firm has recovered millions of dollars for injured clients, helped thousands of families through difficult legal matters, and provided strategic counsel to businesses of all sizes. The original founders have since retired, but their legacy lives on through the attorneys and staff who continue to uphold the values and standards they established more than three decades ago.
Throughout its history, Zax Law has remained committed to serving the community. The firm's attorneys and staff volunteer countless hours providing pro bono legal services, supporting local charities, and participating in community organizations. This commitment to giving back is an integral part of the firm's identity and reflects its belief that being a good lawyer means being a good citizen as well.

At Zax Law, we believe that being part of a community means giving back to that community. Our attorneys and staff are actively involved in numerous organizations and initiatives throughout Little River and the Grand Strand area. This commitment to community service is not just about doing good—it's about being good neighbors and responsible citizens.
Our attorneys regularly provide pro bono legal services through local legal aid organizations, helping low-income individuals access the justice system. We participate in legal clinics, community workshops, and educational programs to help people understand their legal rights and navigate complex legal issues. From helping veterans with benefits claims to assisting seniors with estate planning, we're committed to making legal services accessible to everyone.
Beyond legal services, our team supports numerous local charities and nonprofits. We sponsor youth sports teams, participate in food drives and holiday gift programs, and contribute to organizations that support education, healthcare, and social services in our community. Many of our attorneys serve on nonprofit boards and committees, lending their expertise to help these organizations operate more effectively.
We also believe in supporting the next generation of legal professionals. Our attorneys mentor law students and young lawyers, participate in career day events at local schools and colleges, and support scholarships and educational programs. By investing in the future of the legal profession, we help ensure that the values and standards we hold dear will be carried forward by those who follow in our footsteps.
